Learning and Implementing the Latest Website Trends

Posted By Misty Mountain on May 24, 2008 @ 5:19 pm

One thing that I have learned about business is that it pays to follow trends.  Whether you create them or just follow them is basically irrelevant, but if you know what is currently popular, you can tend to make the most money.

A good example of this would be the Internet.  If you have been following the Internet trends news lately, you would know that having a blog is a key to getting traffic to your website and developing a following.

But even though you might have a blog, you still need to use some sort of RSS submission to make sure that your feeds (and site) get indexed quickly in the search engines.  This way, your site will benefit from the massive amount of free traffic that the search engines provide.

I find that the key to my online success has been following and implementing strategies that take advantage of the current trends.  If you are not doing this, maybe it is time that you should - your site will do much better if you do.

Gift for Grad

Posted By Misty Mountain on May 13, 2008 @ 3:22 pm

With my niece graduating in just one short month, I thought that I would make her special day even better.  You see, she has been my favorite since she was born, so I thought that I could make her grad one of the best days of her life.

So, what I have done is contact a Philadelphia limo service and reserved her a limousine for her graduation.  Sure, it isn’t a gift that you can keep on a mantle for the rest of your life, but from my point of view, it is a priceless experience that she will have.

I think that I will break the news to her in a couple of weeks at her birthday party.  I can’t wait to see her eyes light up, and the big hug that I will receive.  My only worry is what I will have to do to top that gift when she graduates from college…

Recipe for Easy Essay Writing

Posted By Misty Mountain on April 8, 2008 @ 11:14 pm

While I was in college I was kind of a bum.  I don’t mean a beggar on the street, but rather I was a little bit lazier than they should have been at a college level.  It didn’t mean that I wasn’t smart, but rather I was really getting tired of doing all the assignments and homework that we were given.

In an effort to get my college degree and do as little work as possible, I went online to see if I could find a company that would write my sociology essay for me.  From there I would submit many arts essays and management essays over the years as I was pursuing a business management degree with a minor in art.

Sure, I would proofread my purchased essays and maybe re-word them a little bit, but I would really invest no more than one hour per paper that I submitted.  This freed up my time so I could participate in more leisure activities as well display on the college basketball team.  Unlike most people, college was in stressful for me, it was fun.

Learning About Identity Theft

Posted By Misty Mountain on April 2, 2008 @ 8:40 pm

identity-theft-bouncer Honestly, I am a little oblivious when it comes to identity theft.  Except for what I have read in the paper or heard on the news, I really didn’t have anything to do with it until recently when my best friend became victim of identity theft.

It was at that point that I thought that maybe I should learn a bit about what it was and how I could prevent it.  I went down to the library to see if there was a book that I could get that would educate me about the topic.

Unfortunately, there didn’t seem to be any books at the library that dealt with the topic.  Instead, I had to go to the bookstore and get an Identity Theft Guide.  Thankfully they had one and I will be reading it tonight before I go to bed.  I already feel better knowing that I am taking steps to protect myself from identity theft.

A Website Worth Viewing

Posted By Twyla on April 1, 2008 @ 9:45 pm

I am always looking for new ways to promote my website and I try to keep up with the latest technology, but there are so many people out there that know so much more than me. I will admit that I have come a long way in the past year, but there is still so much that I can learn and want to learn.

While looking for ideas to help promote my website, I came across an article about video ads. The article explained that by placing video ads on your website, you can hold the customer’s attention long enough to make the sale and this is exactly what I wanted to be able to do.

I think that the videos will definitely brighten up the site and make it seem more interesting. They also make the site seem like it was created by someone who really knew what they were doing, which is ironic because I am such an amateur. I decided to buy some of these ads and I think they have made a big difference. Now, I must continue on my journey to find out what is new and exciting in the world of website promotion.

My Success is in the Name

Posted By Misty Mountain on March 24, 2008 @ 10:58 pm

For many years now, I have tried to learn how to play a musical instrument - any instrument - with little success.  Even something as simple as playing the recorder back in grade eight was a chore for me and was the reason that I failed band.

But the one thing that has remained constant is my willingness to try, try, and try again.  I don’t know how many different lessons and teachers that I have had over the years that have tried to help me play an instrument, but it has just been way too many.  So many in fact, that many times I have considered giving up, but I have continued to persevere on.

That is why today, everything seemed to come together in one fell swoop.  You see, while searching online, I came across the learn & master the piano course website.  There they promised a revolutionary method that would help even hopeless people like me learn how to play piano.

Well, it is worth a shot right?  I figure that based on the name, I am destined to succeed - I guess time will prove if I am right.

Putting My Photographs on the Wall

Posted By Misty Mountain on March 4, 2008 @ 7:15 pm

I don’t know how many digital photographs I have taken in the last six months with my new digital camera - but it has sure been a lot.  There is definitely some freedom in knowing that you can take as many pictures as you would like, and that it won’t cost anything until you print them.  I often find myself taking pictures of just about anything just because I can.

But, one of my biggest complaints that I have with digital photography is that you rarely print your pictures.  With the thousands of pictures on my computer, I maybe only have one or two of them on the wall.  The simple joy of enjoying a photograph has somehow been lost - at least that is the way I feel.

I thought that I could take some of the pictures I had on my computer and go somewhere to put my photos onto canvas.  That way, I could put some of my new pictures on the wall, and enjoy them, just like back in the days of film.

How to Look Like a Celebrity in Photographs

Posted By Steve on February 15, 2008 @ 11:31 pm

Beautiful, elegant, sexy, attractive - some examples of words that you think of when looking at a photograph of your favorite celebrity.

Looking at the posters of celebrities most people want to have such a photo session where they will be the main heroes. But the other thing is to find a really professional photographer. As a rule, we don’t have time or money for such experiments and continue to admire the impressive posters of Natalie Portman or Salma Hayek. But still you can try and take some interesting photos by yourself. First of all, it is necessary to find the best pose and perspective. Practice in front of the mirror in order to find your best impression and pose.

But one of the most important things is to take as many photos as possible. As you know among several hundreds of photos only two will be perfect and astonishing. Others are so-so. So, there is nothing strange when you don’t like most of your portraits. The thing is that you do it once a year and don’t prepare. Of course, we will not deny that there are people who are graceful by nature. But there are not a lot of them in this world. And I may reassure you that most celebrities also practise before the mirror or with a special trainer… and now it is just their second nature. So, everything depends on you.

The other vary important thing for making you look attractive on photos is the light. You also can take a mirror and compare the reflections you see when you are staying in front of the window, in a dark room or under the lamp. Just try to find the best variant and of course, read more useful tips about such things. Thus, you can create a poster of yourself or of your friend and make such a present. I am sure, it will be better than the posters of some celebrity. Just try!

It Pays to Eavesdrop

Posted By Twyla on December 19, 2007 @ 5:42 pm

The other day, I went to my local pharmacy to order Zoloft, when I overheard a conversation between a couple people about ordering prescriptions online. I had never thought of doing this and was wondering about the cost of this service. I love to surf the net and was wondering to myself why I had never thought of checking this out before.

The people that I had overheard were talking about buying Paxil online. I know that is an antidepressant and was wondering if Zoloft was also available online. I decided to look it up on my computer when I got home.

I found out that you can save a lot of money ordering this way. I came across a site that was advertising generic Prozac and decided to see if my particular antidepressant was available in a generic brand. It was and I saved a ton of money by ordering this way.

Maximize Your Time as a Entrepreneur

Posted By Misty Mountain on December 16, 2007 @ 4:36 pm

Sometimes I feel a little frustrated that there are only 24 hours in the day.  It is even more frustrating that I need to sleep there too, so that leaves me with only 16 hours in a day.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?) for me, I have too many ideas for businesses that need to be developed.  The catch is there is not enough time to do everything, so I have to make some executive decisions as to which ones I develop, and the ones that I shelve.

One thing that I have found that helps me to get more ideas developed is using outsourcing.  I am not a perfectionist, so I do not need to do everything, so paying someone to do tedious or easy tasks makes more sense.  Sadly, it took me about two years to realize this, but I have benefited from this new perspective when it comes to my business.

For example, I used to a free directory submission each day.  It would take me about an hour to submit my site to about fifteen directories at a time, and I only was able to do one submission for each of my sites per week.  Those seven hours per day were just the amount of time that I could create a quality content site - and I was losing that each week.  If each of those sites could conservatively generate just $50 per month, I was throwing away $30,000 in potential income.

So, I found a place that had a directory submission service - for a small fee, they would submit my sites to free directories and free up my time to make more sites.  Is it worth it?  You bet.

There are always ways to improve your operation whether you are an online or offline business.  You should take the time to find them and watch your productivity and profits soar.
