Questioning the Effectiveness of Supplements

Posted By Misty Mountain on August 27, 2008 @ 10:12 am

One of the biggest beliefs that I had is that if you ate healthy and took natural supplements that you would be healthy.

Sadly, I was wrong.  Though the past year has seen me take chlorella and spirulina and incorporate them into my diet, I have still had a large number of problems that have required me to see a physician on a regular basis.

If you go to the doctor a lot, you know what I mean.  In some respects it is a little depressing as no one really wants to be sick, and if you are stuck in that permanently sick condition, it just sucks.

But, one of my good friends suggested that I try to take barley grass to help relieve my condition, and I guess I will give it a try.  If it doesn’t work though, I might have to give up on natural supplements altogether because they don’t work for me.

Natural Cures for Yeast Infection

Posted By Twyla on August 14, 2008 @ 5:32 am

For most of my life, I have been plagued with being very susceptible to getting yeast infections.  I don’t know what it is about me exactly, but it has been something that I have had to live with my entire life.

I have tried all of the over-the-counter medications and kits you can buy at the store, but they seem to just cause me more problems than they are worth.  It must be those chemicals that they are full of that react with me in a terrible manner.

It wasn’t until I leaned what are the best natural cures for yeast infection that things started to turn around for me.  I not only felt better, but I had fewer infections - which was the best thing that has ever happened to me.

I don’t think I will ever buy a store kit again - natural is definitely the way to go to cure yeast infections.

Learning About LASIK Surgery

Posted By Misty Mountain on July 16, 2008 @ 11:43 am

When I decided to look into what the LASIK prices were, I did not know that I had so much to learn about the procedure. I figured that the only decision that I would have to make was whether or not to do it, not knowing that there were different types of the procedure.

I made an appointment with a LASIK Doctor to discuss how the procedure worked and whether or not that it was going to be right for me.  Thankfully, the doctor explained to me and showed me some pictures of how the procedure worked, the side effects, and what to expect when it was all done.  It was a good presentation, and I was able to understand it right away.

I decided to go ahead and make an appointment for LASIK laser eye surgery, as it turned out that it would out very well for me and fit my budget.  I just can’t wait to get rid of my glasses once and for all.

Surgery in Mexico

Posted By Twyla on June 26, 2008 @ 4:13 pm

When my family and I decided to get away over Christmas vacation one year, I certainly did not think that I would ever have surgery in Mexico. That is exactly what happened though. It sounds very scary, but fortunately, for me, it was minor and I came out of it just fine.

I had to stay in bed for a few days, but my family was gracious enough to extend the trip so that I would not miss any of the things that we had been planning to do while we were there. After the few days in bed, I was feeling as good as new and was very antsy to get out of that hotel room and see what Mexico ad to offer.

I was also very grateful for the extra health insurance that we had purchased for the trip. It certainly came in handy that time and I am glad to say that the extra health insurance has been a waste of money on every trip since then.

Feeling Less Lethargic

Posted By Misty Mountain on June 24, 2008 @ 3:03 pm

I have had a tough time the past couple of months with feeling very lethargic.  I found that I could sleep for almost the entire day, and still feel like I needed more rest.  It has not only affected my job, but my family life as well.  I was at the point where I was going to lose everything if something didn’t change.

It was at that point where I received a phone call that seemed specifically geared towards me.  Strangely, it was from a company that specialized in detoxification of the body, and I had all the symptoms.  I don’t know if it was a coincidence, or something else, but it was the right call at the right time.

I ordered some of the Zeolite that they were selling and patiently awaited for it to arrive.  I was sure to start on it right away, as I needed to get back to the way I used to be.  Thankfully, just four weeks later, I was no longer tired all the time and I felt like a new man.  I look back to that phone call and I am so happy I didn’t hang up - or I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Better Than I Have Been in Years

Posted By Twyla on May 27, 2008 @ 8:12 pm

I have been feeling very sick for a long time. The doctors have not been able to find anything wrong with me and yet, I still get sick. I decided to do a little bit of research online about my symptoms and see if I could come up with something that was being overlooked.

I discovered that I had all the symptoms of toxins and pollutants attacking my cells. These toxins and pollutants are all around us and, as it was not something that I could avoid, I had to try and find something that would boost my natural cellular defense, so onward I marched with my research.

What I came up with was a product containing Zeolite. It was supposed to aid the body in getting rid of the toxins by trapping them and then excreting them. I decided that I had to give it a whirl and within days of taking it, my illness was gone. I felt better than I had in years and I am a firm believer in the product.

Hooking Up my CPAP Machine

Posted By Misty Mountain on May 20, 2008 @ 10:40 pm

I am sad to say that I don’t have a perfect bill of health anymore.  I can’t really complain though, as I have only just been diagnosed with sleep apnea, instead of some horrendous disease.  Thankfully, it can be controlled thanks to a sleep apnea machine - which I just purchased today.

Yes, I picked up a bran new CPAP machine that will make my sleep a good one.  At least that is what my doctor tells me - I still have to try it out for the first time.  I thought that I could figure things out without reading the instructions, but that was a bad idea - I couldn’t get it to work right.

You see, I was having issues getting the sleep apnea mask that I purchased to hook up to the machine I bought.  After finally cracking the instructions, I realized that I had purchased the wrong type of mask, and I would have to go back to the store to buy a new one.

I guess I won’t be getting a good night’s sleep tonight - maybe I will tomorrow.

Who Knew?

Posted By Deb Gallardo on @ 11:25 am

My cousin Steve has the best health insurance plan I’ve ever seen. He’s been doing therapy for carpal tunnel locally, but had to be in Southern California for two weeks on business. He did an online search for carpal tunnel in Orange County, found a provider who was on his insurance plan and got almost instant approval to continue his therapy during his stay in Anaheim. Now that’s impressive.

I guess the part that amazes me most is how quickly this all panned out. I’m not so surprised it was approved, just that it occurred within such a short time frame. In my experience, the wheels of bureaucracy turn slowly.

I’d give a lot to have affordable health insurance myself. Since my divorce I haven’t had any coverage. Let’s hope my good health continues until I can get something like my cousin Steve’s plan. I’ll breathe a lot easier then.

Our New Doctor

Posted By Twyla on May 5, 2008 @ 11:00 am

It was a sad day for me when I found out that our family physician was retiring. He had been caring for me since I was a small child and he took care of both of my kids since the day I found out that I was pregnant with them. We were sure going to miss him.

I am glad that we are still a part of the same medical community but it will take some adjusting to get used to having a new doctor. I will be forever grateful for the care that Dr. Marcus has given us throughout the years and I hope he knows how much he has meant to us.

We have all gone to meet our new doctor and he seems to be a caring physician. He has big shoes to fill, but I know that we are more than willing to give him a chance. I hope the other families are as well. I know we will still have all of our medical needs met and in the end, I guess that is all that matters.

Tired of Color Contact Lenses

Posted By Misty Mountain on March 30, 2008 @ 4:23 pm

newcoloriris-before-and-after For the last couple of years, I have been wearing color contact lenses when I leave my home.  Though I don’t really need to, I wear them because it makes my rather dull eyes stand out from the crowd.  Honestly, if you saw me in a crowd, you would remember me because of my eyes.

But in all fairness, there are some inherent dangers with wearing contact lenses all the time, and each day I risk damaging my eyes.  So, I have been looking for alternative ways to change eye color with the least amount of health risks.

Recently, I have been looking at getting a New Color Iris.  It is a medical procedure that allows you to change your eye color permanently.  By changing eye color using this procedure, you do not have to worry about taking out your contacts when swimming or other eye related problems.

I think that I will have to look into it seriously, as I am getting really tired of contact lenses.
