Romantic Night Out on the Town

Posted By Misty Mountain on December 18, 2007 @ 7:13 pm

We will be spending a couple of days next month in New York for a business trip.  We will be leaving the kids at home, so it will be a chance for us to have some time away from the kids.  Sure, we are going to be there for business, but that doesn’t mean we will work the whole time we are there.  I thought that we could do something special and romantic.

I figured that we could go out for supper and drive around in a New York Limousine Rental.  Price wise, I heard they were reasonable, and it would be a romantic drive for us.

I called one of my business associates in New York to ask which NYC Limo Rental company was the best.  He didn’t have a concrete answer, but suggested that I could search online for "Prom Limousine New York" and find some good ones (since lots of people rent them for their Prom).

After a search, I booked a Limo for the week that we will be down there.  I also made the reservations for the hotel and restaurant, so everything is booked now.  I wonder if she will catch on to what I am doing - I can’t wait to see her reaction.

Setting Up a WOW Player Resource Site

Posted By Misty Mountain on December 11, 2007 @ 4:37 pm

I have been an avid player of World of Warcraft (WOW) for some time now.  Spending hundreds of hours in the game has made me somewhat of an expert and I have decided to cash-in on my expertise.

So, creating a WOW website is a logical choice for me.  I have narrowed it down to three different areas that I want to focus on:

  1. Marketplace

I think that having a marketplace where players can buy WOW gold and WOW accounts is an excellent idea.  There would have to be some sort of shopping cart system and I would have to figure out the logistics on how to deliver orders.  It may just be easier for me to find a WOW affiliate program and do it that way too.

  2. Player Resources

A section of the site should be dedicated to offering information and tips to the visitors.  Information such as experience per level, skill details, and special item locations would be good places to start.  I could offer some WOW guides that have walkthroughs, quick ways to power level, and instructions on the easiest ways to farm in the game.  This might be an area where the information could be free, but a membership style site may work here as well.

  3. Discussion Forum

The site will definitely need a discussion forum.  Here members could share ideas, form parties, and just discuss their experiences with the game.  I will have to find some moderators to help keep the forum in check - I won’t have enough time to do it myself.

Now that I have the framework for the site I will make, I just need to set it up.  That is going to take some time - maybe I will just contract the work out.

Entertaining the Kids

Posted By Misty Mountain on November 28, 2007 @ 10:20 pm

Today I had the opportunity to babysit my nieces.  Now, one of them is one, the other is five.  The five year old, Claire is a genius and each time she comes over, I try to play some fun games with her.  Today though, I have been feeling sick, so I thought I could find something on the computer for her to do.

I started her off with some fun puzzle games.  I let her try some games that involved spelling and matching colors together as she is working on that in school.  She sat there and played for about half an hour before she was bored.

We then tried out some fun action games - we found a few that let her build things as well as matching games such as Mah Jong.  Now, she instantly became a Mah Jong expert - she has always been good at matching card games when I played with her in the past.

So, thankfully the Internet was there to entertain my niece - I probably wouldn’t have made it through the day with my headache.

Grandma Made a MySpace Page?

Posted By Twyla on November 14, 2007 @ 11:37 pm

Well I had a big shock the other day when I went to my grandmother’s house.  When I walked in the door she was so excited and she wanted to show me something.  Happy to oblige, I followed her over to her computer.

She opened up her web browser and showed me what she had done… My grandmother had her own MySpace page!

I gave my head a shake as grandma showed me how she did it.  Obviously her first step was to sign up for MySpace and setup her profile information.  She told me how she didn’t care for the default look and looked through a lot of different MySpace layouts.

She showed me some of the free MySpace layouts that she had considered before picking the one she had.  All in all her finished product looked great.

I had to ask her how she did it though - we just bought her a computer six months ago, so she shouldn’t be to tech savvy.  She simply told me that she looked for MySpace tutorials and followed the instructions like a recipe.

Good job Grandma!

Simple Fun

Posted By Misty Mountain on November 7, 2007 @ 12:59 am

Sometimes when I get to finally sit down at night, I really don’t feel like doing anything to tough.  Between work, two kids, and a wife, there really isn’t a lot of free time for me.  If I am lucky, I might get to finally sit down and do something for myself.  Usually at this point, I don’t have a lot of energy and need something simple.

Lately I have been spending a lot of time at my computer.  The Internet is full of a lot of activities that don’t require a lot of brain power.  I have been spending a few nights now looking at funny pictures and funny videos online and that is great.  Not only does that entertain me, but I don’t have to really think at all.

I find if I go to bed happy, then I have a better night sleep.  You should try it, then you’ll know what I mean.
