I like to keep up on the local event news in our area by using several websites. Our local news stations often post information on their web sites about special shows or concerts coming to town.

The radio stations only post information on music that relates to their own formatting though so you’ll have to check each station individually if you like a range of artists.

We have a couple of local websites that feature local event news but sometimes they don’t cover larger venues like our concert arena which not only has concerts from big names like White Zombie and Van Halen, but also hosts shows like the Monster Truck rally. They tend to focus on smaller venues and local artists which is great too, but if I want to know when a big name music act is coming to town, I have to check the artist website along with all the local sites I mentioned above in order to know when and where I can get tickets.

I am going to a Halloween party with my husband and there will be prizes for the couple with the most unique costume ideas.  We also had to follow a theme and this year’s theme happened to be retro cartoons. I was a little bit flabbergasted as to where I was going to start trying to find these.

I asked my husband and he suggested that we go as Fred and Wilma Flintstone. I thought this was going to be alright and that it wouldn’t be too hard to find the costumes. That is when I found out that a couple of friends were going as the Flintstones.

I looked online and found some Jetsons costumes. I was sure that no one else would go as George and Jane. I was right. There were a lot of Bug Bunny’s and a lot of Fred and Wilma’s, but we got the prize for being the only George and Jane.

My boyfriend is a really tough person to buy a gift for.  He has a great job and when he wants something he just goes out and buys it.  He is not careless with his money, but he lacks for nothing.  So buying a gift for him, is one of the things I hate most in life.

I have tried to come up with things that he would not think of buying for himself, but I usually come up short and it drives me nuts when his birthday or Christmas rolls around every year.  I stress out about it so much that I end up usually giving him a gift certificate to his favorite restaurant and feel guilty later, that I gave him such a cop out gift.

His birthday is coming up next month, and I came up with the best idea.  I decided that I would buy him comedy tickets for a local comedy tour that was coming to town.  He loves to watch comedians on TV and I highly doubt he even knows that they are coming to our town.  It will surprise him and he will be something he will really enjoy.

We just got home from one of the most relaxing afternoons that I have had in a long time.  You see, we were just out at a street performer venue that had been setup in the downtown of our city.  It was part of an annual event and it is the first time that we have gone.

We were able to see one show put on by street theatre performers and it was amazing.  I really didn’t know what to expect, but when I left the show, I am sure that my mouth was hanging open in awe.

You see, they were juggling fire and it was a new and exciting experience for me.  A couple of times, it looked like someone was going to get hurt, but I suppose that it was just part of the show.

Needless to say, it was one of the most relaxing and exciting afternoons that I have had in a long while - I should take a break from the house more often.

I absolutely love Christmas time. It is my favorite time of the year and it just got better when I had kids. I finally have someone to play Santa with and they get so excited. This, in turn, gets me excited and I am sure that I have just as much trouble getting to sleep on Christmas Eve as they do.

Before they go to bed, they get to hang their stockings on the mantle and leave a plate of cookies out for Santa, and I finally get to fill those stockings and eat the cookies. I have waited a long time for this and I love the look of pure pleasure that they have on their faces when they come downstairs early on Christmas morning.

I probably have that same look of pleasure. Not much has changed for me, I guess, besides that I now get pretty bras and jewelry instead of Barbie dolls and flannel jammies. I am sad when it is time to pack up the tree and put everything away because it means I have so long to wait for this feeling of peace to come back again.

I have to admit that I do not get out much. I work all day and at the end of the day, I am tired and I just want to go home and relax. I go to bed fairly early and I am certainly not the life of the party. I have very few friends and the ones I do have are mostly like me. They like to relax and watch TV in the evenings with a cup of tea.

Every once in awhile, I will get a good deal on cheap event tickets to the theatre or the symphony. These are the times when I venture out of my comfort zone and have an evening out. I do end up being very tired the next day, and this is exactly why I do not do this very often.

Another thing I do once in awhile is go out for coffee with a friend. I do not mind doing this so much, as I can usually still be to bed at a decent hour and it gives me some much needed fellowship with people that understand me.

I don’t know how familiar you are with Blackberry ring tones, but I am becoming more and more so. I recently won a Blackberry through a radio contest, and having never been the owner of a cell phone before, I have not stopped playing with the thing since I got it.

The ring tones are what I like to play with the most. I am not a real social person, so do not get many calls, but I play around with the ring tones every day. As I also won a contract with a phone company, I have been using Verizon ring tones as well. I have a lot now, to keep me entertained.

I like to download MP3 ring tones and listen to them. My husband jokes that I would have been just as happy winning a cheap MP3 player, as I am with the cell phone. He is wrong though, because I have already had two, yes two, phone calls. Call me a social butterfly.

I must admit that I spend half of the time on the Internet doing research for school papers and things like that and I spend the other half of my time fooling around and surfing for things that are doing little for my education or intelligence. I think the Internet is full of just cool stuff though and there is so much to do and see.

I will, however, admit that it is also full of just stupid stuff that is a waste of time and space, even on the world wide web. Of course, it has to contain stupid stuff, because if you can name it, you can find it online.

I am really good at finding very cool websites. I think I have made some websites popular myself, by finding them, thinking them awesome and then sharing with my friends, who also think they are awesome.

Some of the best reviews on the cool websites that I have stumbled across were written by me and my friends. The people who own them owe us a big thanks. But then, we also owe them a big thanks for entertaining us so much.

I have just created my very first web page. It is nothing spectacular, but it is mine and my friends say it belongs in the category of fun websites. I think they may just be trying to make me feel good and I wonder if it would be of any interest to someone who doesn’t know me, but I like it.

I even had all my friends use bookmarks for my site and made them promise to go check it every day for changes that I have made to it. I spend a lot of my free time playing around with it and it is so much fun for me.

One of my friends submitted it to a site that does website ratings and it did better than I expected it to. I am not going to be the next Bill Gates, but I am cool amongst my peers. That is all that really matters when you are in college.

So, if one day the entire Internet buzz is about me, it is because I really learned what I was doing and created some wonderful website masterpieces. Until then, I will be young and have fun!

My day today has been characterized by a lot of cleaning in anticipation for the party tonight.  Floors have been swept and mopped, the children’s toys have been picked up, and I am baking at the same time.  Even though I seem to have a knack for multitasking, all work and no play, doesn’t work for me at all.

So, I have decided to take time for a break.  I have my coffee in hand and I am sitting at the computer here blogging to you.  Okay, maybe that isn’t the real reason why I am sitting here.  I really sat down to play some online games to take my mind off what I should be doing.

Some of my favorite games are card casino games such as blackjack as well as classic games like bubble bobble.  I like go go back and forth between them as one challenges my mind (and my luck) and the other challenges my reflexes.  This way, I get to "exercise" both, and it keeps my interest longer. 

I just have to make sure that I set a timer and make sure that I quit when it goes off.  So, I have set my handy egg timer for fifteen minutes - that should be a long enough break for me.
