I am happy to say that I am on the path to becoming an instructor at a local hair school and hopefully I will be able to teach the next group of students that will be starting in a few short weeks. This will be my first time as a teacher, and I hope that I am able to do a good job for them.
You see, I had always wanted to teach, but it wasn’t until I attended a beauty academy and people started to notice my work that it actually became a possibility. You see, I met a lot of wonderful women through my days of working at the local salon, and someone passed my name along when the local beauty school decided that they were hiring.
I went to the interview and they are supposed to let me know by the end of the week if I have the position or not. Either way, I now know that I want to teach and that I will do what it takes to make that dream come true.
For most of my adult life, I’ve really had no problem finding a job when I needed one. Besides having a well-rounded skill set, I also have an excellent resume that is paved my way to many job opportunities and interviews. In fact, I never thought that I would ever have a problem finding a job in my life as it seemed like any employer would be happy to have me on their team.
I guess it was a little bit overconfident, and I quickly found out that I was unable to find any part time jobs in my area. Not only was is disappointing, but we were in a serious financial crunch and I needed to find any kind of job quick.
I took a look on a highly recommended Australia job search website and I was able to find a number of call center jobs in Australia that I would be qualified for. I applied for them online and waited patiently to hear a positive response from them.
Now, a couple weeks later I am still without a job and things are getting desperate. Hopefully things will turn around soon and someone will offer me a job - otherwise, I don’t what we are going to do.
One of the biggest things that my uncle’s employer is concerned about it their safety. Not only is being safe an essential thing on their job sites, but by being safe they are able to save a lot of money. You see, he works in construction and though they try to be safe, accidents do happen that cost money and lives.
In an effort to reduce the number of injuries and create a safer work environment for their staff, they have made a point to purchase a new safety harness for each of their staff once per year. Instead of relying on old equipment to fail, they are proactive and ensure that their equipment is in good condition.
They also attend workshops twice per year to ensure that they know the proper use of fall protection equipment. Though my uncle grumbles about it sometimes, he knows that he is working at a place that cares that he is safe on his job which definitely makes him feel better about working there.
I work part time for a small airline in town and it has been a great experience. You see, I have always been fascinated with airplanes, and now that I get paid to be around them, it is like living my childhood dream as an adult.
I am still taking flying lessons and hope to be a pilot someday, but in the meantime, I just do general maintenance tasks as well as I am learning some aircraft mechanics. They do let me do simple repairs and this weekend I get to change the aircraft headset in each plane with a new one.
The replacement aircraft headsets are David Clark headsets which are some of the best on the market. I know for some of you that it might seem like it would be a lot of work to replace them, but honestly, it is pretty easy.
We just like to replace them regularly so that we don’t have any problems in the air. Though the job replacing them is easy, I love the opportunity to spend my whole day in airplanes - I can’t wait!
One of the roles of the found myself performing in my adult life is that of a teacher. As it turns out, I have a knack for public speaking and I am sharing that talent with the world.
Specifically, I’ve started teaching a seminar on debt management for the public and the response has been very positive. I have not only seen success stories flooding in but I’ve also had many people thank me for changing their lives.
The seminar that I teach is four hours long and covers topics such as how to reduce credit card debt and what exactly debt diet plans do for you. The principal goal of these seminars is to both educate the attendees as well as help them to avoid having to go through poor credit debt consolidation.
Later on this year I am going to try to take a seminar on the road and see if there is interest in other communities for the knowledge that I present. I’m sure it will go well and I’m looking forward to that working holiday.
One of the questions that was posed to us at a seminar that I recently attended was if we knew the top five keys to a happy relationship. The seminar was one that I was attending through my work and it was about building relationships in the workplace, as it is critical for the success of any business that the employees get along.
At the seminar each of the attendees received a relationship book discussing potential problems that could happen between people in the workplace and the best solutions for these problems. I found the seminar to be very informative and I was really glad that I had the chance to go.
I think I have a happy relationship with every one of my coworkers which is one of the reasons that my boss chose me to go to the seminar. She figured, that I could share the knowledge that I learned with my fellow coworkers as they all seemed to respect me.
When I was going to college I always had dreams of getting the perfect job with the perfect large-company and that at this job I would be able to climb the corporate ladder very quickly. I ended up getting this dream job right out of college and shortly after that, my dream turned into a nightmare.
I learned very quickly that it was a lot of effort on my part to climb the corporate ladder and even then it was up to the people at the top of the ladder whether they were going to even let me climb or not. I knew that going into business for me was the only way that I was going to end up happy.
I started looking into a lot of different business opportunities and finally decided on what would be best for me in my knowledge. I started my own business shortly after and it has been such a success that I am now the person on the top of the ladder. But the difference compared to my job is that those people at the bottom are going to be allowed to climb.
Well, I just finished a telephonic interview for a job in sales.. It was difficult to know how to prepare. My résumé was top-notch. My references were impeccable. I’d done my homework. But nothing can quite substitute for a handshake or looking someone in the eye. And there’s that whole body language thing that makes you second guess how the interview is going..
But it’s amazing how many nuances you can detect in the voice when you have nothing else to focus on. My interviewer couldn’t keep the skepticism out of his tone.
I was actually prepared for all his questions and puzzled why he didn’t ask a number of others like, “How would you increase sales?”
Then it finally became clear why this was a telephone interview. They had no intention of hiring me. I suspect it was based on gender and age, but I’ll never be able to prove it. They conducted an interview to avoid any hint of bias.
Well, if nothing else, I can now offer a few sales interview tips, starting with, “If they ask for a telephone interview, tell them you’d rather meet face-to-face.”
I work for one of those companies that does catering for office parties. I am not necessarily a good cook, but the cooking is not what they do for my job. I am more of a decorator and I was hired for my eye and attention to detail when setting up for a party.
I know, that I am good at my job, and there is nothing else that I would rather be doing than taking a linens and dishes to different gatherings. I do like putting colors together and it is nice to know that I don’t always have to work with the same things. I’ve had much good comments and feedback on my work.
I am a very much behind the scenes person when it comes to the company that I work for. In fact, I am not usually even around when the actual meal is served. By then, my job has been done and there is nothing more that my decorating eye can do for the company.
I recently finished my first year of being a full fledged high school English teacher. I am sure that I learned just as much from these students as they learned from me. In fact, I am sure that I learned more. I remember when I assigned them their first essay, just three days into school. I thought I had made some real enemies for sure. I was known as being a tough teacher after that.
I had heard that so many brand new teachers had trouble assigning homework, for fear that the students would not like them. I think I actually went to the other extreme, in order to stay away from that stereotype. In fact, when it came time for parent conferences in November, it was brought to my attention that I had already assigned five research papers to one class.
I was taken aback. I didn’t realize that I had gotten that bad. When we got back to school after the thanksgiving break, I promised that class that they would only have two more term papers for the rest of the year. I think that helped and the students started warming up to me. I started to relax a little bit and I am ready to go back and have a really good year this time.
