I have to admit that I am a bit weird, but I love office furniture. There is just something about having that perfect desk in your office matched with one of those comfortable office chairs that just brightens my work day.
But where do you find good deals on office furniture? That is sometimes one of those tricky subjects as you see many flyers from the office supply stores in town advertising computer desks at a discount because they have a truckload sale, or it is just that time of year when students go back to school.
One of the best places that I have found is online. The advantage is that you can get the desk or chair delivered to your home and you don’t have to worry about figuring out how to get it there (this is especially true if you drive a car and not a truck) as well as the prices found online tend to be much cheaper than at the store.
So, the next time that you are looking for some great deals on office furniture, take a look online - that is where the real deals can be found.
I have been working for the same company for many years, and I am getting tired of it. Sure, the pay is okay and so are the benefits, but I want to have the opportunity to retire early - something that will not happen at my current job.
So, a number of years ago, I decided that I would try to start a business online. After a number of failed attempts, I was very discouraged, and gave up on it. It wasn’t until this year that my interest in making money online was rekindled.
You see, I learned of a free Internet marketing opportunity that showed you step-by-step how to succeed online. Obviously, that is exactly what I needed as what I had done up to this point just wasn’t working.
So, I am still watching the training videos, but what I have seen so far makes sense - maybe I will be able to retire early after all.
Sometimes, I feel that being an entrepreneur is more of a condition than a state - I see opportunities in everything. This continual drive towards looking for opportunities means that my brain never shuts off - it is always looking for a new business for me.
For example, today while reading a blog post on how to start a blog, my eyes wandered off to the sidebar of the site. I found that there were ads for many different affiliate products, and that is when it hit me - I could make a site about affiliate products.
So, it was at that point, I decided to create an affiliate marketing review blog. Though I had not tried many of the available products, I started out with the goal of doing at least two per week.
Now, I just have to do some marketing, and then watch the money roll in - well, that is how it should work in theory, right?
I have heard a lot of my business peers talk about outsourcing and its benefits. It took me a long time to realize that I was not going to be able to do everything, and that outsourcing was going to have to be part of my business plan if I hoped to accomplish anything.
What I did a little different shocked my colleagues a little, as most of them outsourced the work that they needed in our little town. But for my project, there was no one that did what I needed in town, so I decided to look elsewhere to see what I could find.
As it turns out, there was no one in the country that could do the level of work that I was looking for, so I searched for logo design online to see if I could find a company up to the challenge. As it turns out, I have a firm from the UK doing all the work for me now, and they consistently deliver the best work I have ever seen.
Though they are out of the company, they deliver exactly what I need, so I don’t see why outsourcing the work out of country is not more widely used - sometime you just have to look all over the world for the best.
I have a friend who hates the Internet, complains every time her computer at school hiccups and has to be rebooted (it’s a Mac, so it’s not a Windows issue), and except for finding information online — and even that’s an issue with her — and email, takes every opportunity to put down the very medium I’ve chosen as my business platform. Makes for some interesting conversations.
I’m not seeking MLM success and I’m not using the Internet for MLM lead generation. I’m also not exactly blogging for profit, so it’s difficult to explain to her (or anyone else) exactly what it is I do and why I’m not yet making money at it when I’ve been working on a web business for three years.
I’ve tried to explain how many facets there are to setting up an online business. A well-respected online marketer — one to whom the top marketers go to for advice — created a graphical representation of all the tasks necessary for starting and then growing and maintaining an online business. I’m so glad that I didn’t see that when I first started out, or we wouldn’t be having this conversation right now, because I probably wouldn’t be online.
It is a great day as the grand opening for our little store is tomorrow, and it promises to be great!
We have been working on setting up shop for the past month and it has been a lot of work. Not only did we design a lot of the furniture in the store ourselves, but we stocked all the shelves since we didn’t hire staff to setup the store.
With the big day just around the corner, I made sure to give the high risk merchant accounts provider a quick call to make sure everything was going to be ready for tomorrow. I needed to make sure that they would be able to accept an unlimited amount of transactions, since it should be super busy all week.
They assured me that there wouldn’t be a problem, and I decided that I would go over the interview questions I had prepared for tomorrow. With less than 24 hours to go, I am getting a bit stressed out about the opening - but I am sure it will go fine, right?
Our company does a lot of phoning to clients outside of the country and has a large phone bill. For many years, the expense of doing as many calls as we do has impacted our bottom line to where we are barely profitable. We were waiting for some sort of technology that would address these costs for us so that our profits could soar.
I was very excited with the development of VOIP phones as it signaled that we were finally at the point where our long distance expenses were going to be a little more reasonable. I didn’t hop onto the bandwagon right away, as I wanted to wait and see how well the technology worked.
Needless to say, it didn’t take long before we made the leap to VOIP, and we have never looked back. In fact, thanks to that technology, our company has had its’ most profitable years ever.
When I was going to college I always had dreams of getting the perfect job with the perfect large-company and that at this job I would be able to climb the corporate ladder very quickly. I ended up getting this dream job right out of college and shortly after that, my dream turned into a nightmare.
I learned very quickly that it was a lot of effort on my part to climb the corporate ladder and even then it was up to the people at the top of the ladder whether they were going to even let me climb or not. I knew that going into business for me was the only way that I was going to end up happy.
I started looking into a lot of different business opportunities and finally decided on what would be best for me in my knowledge. I started my own business shortly after and it has been such a success that I am now the person on the top of the ladder. But the difference compared to my job is that those people at the bottom are going to be allowed to climb.
I know that most people would take the weekend off and enjoy their days off, but as a business owner, that sometimes is not an option. Where most employees just show up for their eight hours and go home, a business owner has a little more responsibility when it comes to their business.
A great example of that would be me, at work today. Sure, I am taking a break to write about my day here, but I am still getting ready for the meeting on Monday with a merchant services sales person.
They contacted me last week to offer an alternative to the services provided by my bank at a discount. So, I thought that I would give them the time to make a presentation, and then I can make my decision.
So, I am getting a list of questions together for Monday, and I am looking forward to it - my bank already takes too much of my money anyway.
One thing that I like to do when we hire new staff is to train them in even the most mundane of tasks. I realize that this can take up a lot of time and money, but I feel that we need all of our employees to be on similar skill levels so that we can offer our clients the best and most consistent service available.
So, today, when we had a training session for our new cashiers, we left no stone unturned. We started everyone out with the basics such as how to count the cash and proper etiquette at the tills.
Later on in the afternoon we covered proper credit card processing procedures as well as how to troubleshoot the debit card machine.
Out of the group, it looks like we will have to let one of them go, but the rest seem like they will be competent employees. I guess we will have to see their performance on the floor before we will know for sure.
