Many pharmacies across the UK are seeing sales rise as the Swine flu pandemic becomes more wide spread. The majority of them have seen rises in items like thermometersm hand gels and wipes, however, alot of chemists are also promoting the sale of nutritional supplements.

This doesn’t sound too bad that they are just trying to boost their sales. However, when you consider that they are trying to boost sales because people are worried about catching swine flu. Many people believe that because these products are being promoted that these digestive supplements, they actually stop you from catching the virus. There is actually a small amount of evidence to show that these supplements actually aid in the prevention of catching swine flu.

A posted has been seen in a large amount of pharmacies acorss the UK saying how: 100,000 new cases predicted per day by the end of August according to the Government. Bio-Glucan helps to maintain a healthy immune system, the body’s natural defences against infection.’. This is just more examples of chemists benefitting from the swine flu pandemic.

It’s these sorts of problems that result in people thinking they are going to die from swine flu and they need to buy all these un-needed products. The scaremongering has also led to many people eating more healthy food. No doubt this will also lead to record sales for Marks & Spencers recently announced ACE pepper. This is the only pepper to contain your daily guided amount of vitamins A, C and E. Before this, the vitamin E was only ever found in fatty items like nuts.

Despite many reports on the news about how not to be worried and the best ways to prevent the spread of the virus. There are always those people who avoid doing what is said in the news stories and would much rather buy these items that are promoted in their local chemist. It wouldn’t surprise me if they went so far to say Silicea Gastro Gel would protect you against swine flu!
