Printing with the Dell 2130 printer is made easy because of its ability to deliver clear monochrome and color documents. Additionally, the list price on this unit makes it attractive to cost-conscious business owners. Join it up with a Dell 2130 toner, and you’ll soon be humming along. It’s also a good color printer for those who don’t want to pay high per-page costs, especially when the 400 dollar price tag is factored in. In fact, there’s little to dislike about this printer.

Printing Speeds. The Dell 2130 color laser printer can put out black and white pages at up to 20 pages per minute. Color output is about three-quarters of that. This is more than acceptable for small networks or a single user in a home office or small business. It spools up quickly from print command to output, so there’s very little time to wait for any print job to finish.

Installing the 2130. The Dell 2130 is pretty easy to hook up to an existing network or even just a single desktop computer. With USB 2.0 and 10/100 Ethernet capability, the printer should present little difficulty to the average business person who doesn’t want to fork over money to an IT professional. One thing Dell tries to do is make using their products fairly non-intimidating, and that effort shows well in this color printer.

Printing Abilities. Using the Dell 2130 laser toner cartridge, it’ll be about 1000 color or 2500 black and white pages later before you’ll need to get more toner. Also, you’ll have to print more than 40,000 pages before the 2130 will require maintenance. It’s not a high-capacity color printer, though, so you may want to get one of those if your business requires something along those lines.

Supported Platforms. Most PCs work well with the 2130, including those using Vista, XP and 2000, plus Windows 2008 servers.

Paper Capacity. Standard paper storage capacity for the 2310 comes in at about 250 pages in its standard tray. Adding the optional extra tray brings paper-holding capacity to 500 pages.

Much Memory? Memory is good for a unit at this price. Starting out with an installed 256 megabytes, you can take it all the way up to 1280, which should be adequate to handle most any print job that a home business may have. If you use it strictly as a black and white printer, in fact, you probably won’t run across an instance in which you need more than that 1280MB.

Things to Keep in Mind. As is the case with just about any unit, Dell 2130 laser toner cartridges are widely available at nice prices, which are a prime factor in keeping down per-page printing costs, especially when color laser printing is called for.
