I spent the entire weekend marking book reports written by my fifth grade students. They all did amazingly well and I am proud to be their teacher. I usually have a handful of really smart students each year, but this year they are all so smart that it is more of a challenge keeping up with them than having them keep up with me.
These kids are so brilliant that they could probably write an admission essay already to get into college. I have a really tough time trying to come up with homework to give them as they finish their work so quickly. I have started incorporating a lot more fun and hands on activities into the lessons to drag them out a little bit longer.
It is kind of funny because I was just reading a custom essay about children being smarter if they are not the first in the family. The funny thing is that none of my students are the first born in a family, so maybe there is some truth to this research after all. I never would have believed it before this point.
