Graffiti, Not Vandalism

Posted By Twyla on March 31, 2008 @ 11:06 am

Until recently, I would never have considered graffiti to be a form of art. I saw a piece of work called Banksy Gangster Rat and that totally changed how I feel about it. It was a brilliant piece of work and I now will bravely argue with anyone who says that graffiti is not an art form.

I do not, however, condone people vandalizing buildings with their art work. They may still be artists, but they are artists that are breaking the law and that is not responsible. I think that graffiti art does have a place and a market and that is where the graffiti artists should be looking to make a name for themselves.

For one thing, if you are a vandal, than you do not get to take credit for your artwork and that is really sad. An artist should always be able to proudly say, “That is my work.” There is also a big difference between a graffiti artist and a careless vandal. You can tell the difference in the type of art, as a graffiti artist pays much more attention to details.

Tired of Color Contact Lenses

Posted By Misty Mountain on March 30, 2008 @ 4:23 pm

newcoloriris-before-and-after For the last couple of years, I have been wearing color contact lenses when I leave my home.  Though I don’t really need to, I wear them because it makes my rather dull eyes stand out from the crowd.  Honestly, if you saw me in a crowd, you would remember me because of my eyes.

But in all fairness, there are some inherent dangers with wearing contact lenses all the time, and each day I risk damaging my eyes.  So, I have been looking for alternative ways to change eye color with the least amount of health risks.

Recently, I have been looking at getting a New Color Iris.  It is a medical procedure that allows you to change your eye color permanently.  By changing eye color using this procedure, you do not have to worry about taking out your contacts when swimming or other eye related problems.

I think that I will have to look into it seriously, as I am getting really tired of contact lenses.

Catching Up With an Old Friend

Posted By Misty Mountain on March 29, 2008 @ 4:31 pm

I received one of the strangest phone calls today.  You see, it was David, a buddy from college that I haven’t heard from in years.  We had parted ways after law school and we haven’t talked since.

But in the last month or so, we reconnected on Facebook.  He found me on there and I added him as a friend and I thought nothing of it.

But, I guess my friendship was important to him so he decided to use my contact information and give me a call.  It turns out that after he finished college, he went on to become a Criminal Attorney in Minnesota.  He had started to work at a practice, and now he was a full partner at his law firm.

He also had a couple of kids, but had gone through a divorce so they didn’t live with him.  I filled him in on the details of my life, and we have made plans to get together in the summer for drinks.

Who knew that David would have wanted to get in touch with me – I guess we are lucky that we have the Internet.

Finding Myself and my Faith

Posted By Twyla on @ 1:03 pm

I have been really trying to find myself this past year. I spent all of my life being exactly who my parents wanted me to be, that I forgot to have an identity of my own. In my searching, I found that I was very curious about the Muslim faith and this brought me into the inner circle of Calgary’s Pakistani community.

I was welcomed, as both as a lost person and as a person wanting to know more about their faith. I trusted these people and I tried to help them. I helped one young man with his class 7 driving test and we became fast friends. He is the best friend I have ever had in my life because he was not handpicked for me by my parents.

One of my favorite hangouts quickly became Halal Pakistani Restaurant. It has great food and great people. I am growing stronger in my Muslim faith, thanks to my friends. It is so refreshing to find people that love me and accept me for who I am and they do not care about my status or where I came from.

Make a Believer Out of Me

Years ago, when they were a pretty new thing, I decided to try a natural weight loss supplement instead of going on a diet. What I didn’t realize at the time is that no supplement is going to help you if you are not also willing to put in the effort to try and avoid bad foods and do moderate exercise.

When it failed, I swore off natural supplements as a scam, so when it was suggested to me that my son undergo ADD/ADHD natural treatments, I absolutely refused to even talk about it. When he hit a very low point, though, I decided to give it some thought and eventually decided to give it a try.

It worked very well and for the first time since his diagnoses, I feel like the disease is under control. When the results for this turned out to be so great, I decided that I would try supplements for thyroid care. I was just starting to have an overactive thyroid and decided to try this rather than to get a prescription. It is working so far and I have big hopes for the future of my family’s health care.

Becoming a Hermit

Posted By Twyla on March 27, 2008 @ 10:56 am

I have to admit that I do not get out much. I work all day and at the end of the day, I am tired and I just want to go home and relax. I go to bed fairly early and I am certainly not the life of the party. I have very few friends and the ones I do have are mostly like me. They like to relax and watch TV in the evenings with a cup of tea.

Every once in awhile, I will get a good deal on cheap event tickets to the theatre or the symphony. These are the times when I venture out of my comfort zone and have an evening out. I do end up being very tired the next day, and this is exactly why I do not do this very often.

Another thing I do once in awhile is go out for coffee with a friend. I do not mind doing this so much, as I can usually still be to bed at a decent hour and it gives me some much needed fellowship with people that understand me.

Starting a Pet Supplies Drop Shipping Business

Posted By Misty Mountain on March 25, 2008 @ 9:40 am

Based on the success of our laser printer toner drop shipping business, we have decided to start another drop shipping business.  My wife will be taking care of operations and so we decided that she can make the decision on what products we will sell.

We created a short list of interests that she had to do market research and determine if they would make a viable business.  Of the five types of products we were considering selling, we decided that we would create a pet supplies drop shipping business.

Initially, we decided to test the market by offering dog toys and cat toys to her customers.  The reasoning behind this choice is that we were able to find a supplier that would allow us to operate with high profit margins and low shipping costs.

We’ve also decided to carry high-end pet carriers to cater to more affluent customer base.  Though shipping on these designer pet carriers will be high, the group of customers that would be interested in such a product will have the money readily available.

We are just finalizing the website design before we go live in one short week.  My wife is very excited about having the opportunity to run her first business on her own.  It will be fun to watch her learn the ropes and become the businesswoman that I know she can be.

My Success is in the Name

Posted By Misty Mountain on March 24, 2008 @ 10:58 pm

For many years now, I have tried to learn how to play a musical instrument – any instrument – with little success.  Even something as simple as playing the recorder back in grade eight was a chore for me and was the reason that I failed band.

But the one thing that has remained constant is my willingness to try, try, and try again.  I don’t know how many different lessons and teachers that I have had over the years that have tried to help me play an instrument, but it has just been way too many.  So many in fact, that many times I have considered giving up, but I have continued to persevere on.

That is why today, everything seemed to come together in one fell swoop.  You see, while searching online, I came across the learn & master the piano course website.  There they promised a revolutionary method that would help even hopeless people like me learn how to play piano.

Well, it is worth a shot right?  I figure that based on the name, I am destined to succeed – I guess time will prove if I am right.

Knowing My Subject

Posted By Twyla on @ 11:28 am

I was studying the effects of hypnotism for a paper that I was writing for my psychology class. For my research, I decided that I would get myself hypnotized so that I would know exactly what it felt like and therefore, know more about what I was writing.

I decided to do a search on the Internet to get more information and was pleased when I found a hypnosis London website that had all of the information I was looking for. I decided that I would try and contact them and see if I could ask them a few questions for my research. They were very cooperative and I was glad that I had tried.

I looked through the yellow pages and found a local hypnotist. He agreed to hypnotize me for free and also let me do an interview for the sake of research. I did very well on the essay and the professor said he was impressed with the effort I put into know what I was writing about.

Positive Intake

Posted By Twyla on March 23, 2008 @ 1:14 pm

I was introduced to one of the best MLM strategies that I have ever heard in my life. It is for a health product and a person really only has to sign up a couple of people to reap the benefits of purchasing this product. It is a product that can literally sell itself and I was sold on it the first time I tried it.

The product is made by GBG and it is something that I personally use every day. It is very expensive to purchase, but if you sign up and get only two people signed up underneath you, you can purchase it yourself for next to nothing. This is what I call a no-brainer. It was one of the easiest decisions I ever made.

What it is, is a phenomenal liquid vitamin. It is not only one vitamin, but a mixture of ten different ones, and it works very well. I have never felt healthier than I do since I made this a part of my daily ritual. I am a firm believer that anything we put into our bodies has either a positive or a negative effect and this is purely positive.
