Averting Tragedy While Traveling

Posted By Misty Mountain on July 19, 2007 @ 2:40 am

I recently went on a trip to Brazil with a couple of buddies.  After booking our tickets and making all the arrangements, Steve had a good suggestion:

?Maybe we should get some travel medical insurance.?

You know, it didn?t sound like a bad idea.  We made an appointment at an insurance company.

I was a little confused about the need for travel insurance.  The insurance broker explained that regular medical insurance covers you in the U.S. but not when you are traveling abroad.  It can cover everything from emergency medical procedures to a simple trip to the doctor.  All of us purchased the travel insurance just before we went on our trip.

I am so thankful that we did.

David had some abdominal pains after the first few days on our trip.  We took him to the hospital and it ended up that he had a ruptured spleen.  The insurance covered his visit at the hospital and the surgery.  Had we not had the insurance, we would have had a huge medical bill to pay.

All I can say is Thank goodness.

Unblock The Blocked

Posted By Misty Mountain on July 18, 2007 @ 2:39 am

Are you frustrated when you try to visit sites that you want to visit and are blocked by your employer from visiting them?  I know I am.  I have been looking for a quality work proxy for some time so that I could update my MySpace page.  I did manage to find a site today that can do what most of us need it to do.  This free proxy server can do the following:

  • Unblock MySpace
  • Unblock Bebo
  • Unblock Facebook
  • Unblock Friendster
  • Unblock Hi5
  • ? and more.

The best part: it is free.  You don?t have to pay anything and it doesn?t leave any traces on your computer.  Check them out as it is one of the best web proxy sites I have seen: FreeProxyServer.ca.

Three Interesting Blogs

Posted By Misty Mountain on July 16, 2007 @ 2:38 am

Out of the million blogs on the internet, I vowed to find a few interesting ones today.  Here are the the three good ones I found today:

Creative wits is a blog about just about anything.  You can find articles related to technology, cars, insurance and more.  There are definitely some good articles if you want to learn about a variety of things.

Laptops blog is dedicated to those of us that have(I consider it a blessing) a laptop.  You can find different things to try with your laptop, as well as tips on purchasing a laptop.  Informative and in English, the articles on the site are designed to educate you in five minutes or less.  I have definitely put some of the tips to use for my laptop.

URL Shouter is a website announcement blog.  Want to find some of the best websites launched in the last few days?  Find them all at this website.  It is a general, family oriented blog, so you can find many sites that would appeal to your interests, whatever they may be.  I did get some good ideas on things to write about from this blog.

Troubles Selling Your Home

Posted By Misty Mountain on July 12, 2007 @ 2:37 am

I recently listed my home on the market, expecting a quick sale.  Boy was I wrong.

I had a few people take a look at my house, but no one was really interested.  According to my realtor, the price I was asking was reasonable, but for whatever reason, no one seemed interested in buying.

I was in a little time crunch, as we were expecting to move out of state at the end of the month.  It sucked that I may be stuck with my house ? I didn?t know what to do.

We needed some milk for the kids, so I went to the supermarket.  I took a quick peek on the bulletin board there where I put a flyer for my house for sale.  No one even took a phone number off the sign.

I was just about to leave when another flyer caught my eye.  It read:

?We Buy Houses?

That got me a little excited.  On the sign there was a website that I could visit.  I couldn?t wait to get home to check it out.

Sitting at the computer, I punched the website into my web browser.  This seemed to be the site I needed (funny how that sometimes happens) and I started to read how to get a fast home sale.

The whole purpose of the site was to get leads for a motivated home seller.  I submitted my information and received a phone call a few days later.  Guess what?  My house is sold.

Awe Inspiring Phones

Posted By Misty Mountain on July 4, 2007 @ 2:23 am

Do you want to blend in or stand out in a crowd? As much as I like to fit in, sometimes it doesn?t hurt if your friends envy you a little bit for what you have, right? Well in my quest to find a new cell phone, I had to find something that would just make my friends jealous – and make me look fine.

The first phone I came across was the Apple iPhone. It is new and that means my friends shouldn?t have one yet. The cool thing is that it is an iPod and a mobile phone combined. The touch screen interface means that I no longer have to use those prehistoric buttons, but rather futuristically touch the screen. This phone is sweet!

Another choice I found was from one of my favorite clothing lines Prada. The LG Prada is as elegant as it is beautiful. Again, no buttons on this lithe phone, and it just screams fashion. It has a camera, music player, movie player, and even FM radio. With a simple interface (just what I need!).

There are just too many mobile phone choices for me – I will maybe just have to get both?

Compare mortgage quotes on your New York mortgage refinance to get a great deal and save!

Posted By Misty Mountain on July 2, 2007 @ 2:21 am

If you live in Brooklyn or you are thinking about moving to New York and you need to secure a great deal on a mortgage loan, then your best opportunity to get a low rate is to compare 3 or 4 lenders quotes. Shopping for a mortgage loan can be very complex.  We found that there are a number of sites that offer comparison shopping and used a service offered by LoanNetwork.com where they actually had lenders contact us with there mortgage quotes. It was super easy to shop for a mortgage and helped us save a ton of time in trying to compare offers. Comparing refinance and purchase home loans for closing costs, interest rates and programs has never been easier. The site offers free mortgage calculators, a forum to ask their expert response team and offers mortgage loan quotes for all 50 states including: New York Mortgage loans, second mortgages, equity loans, interest only and deferred interest mortgage programs.

Chip Foose Designs the 2007 Foose Stallion

Posted By Misty Mountain on @ 2:19 am

Chip Foose is not just an everyday car designer.  You may recognize the name from the Overhaulin’ television show as the artist that crafts old vehicles into stunning beauties.  Did you know that Foose does vehicle designs outside of his television show?

I sure didn’t.

Today, I did come across a website dedicated to modded Ford Mustangs.  Looking through its’ pages I was surprised to discover the 2007 Foose Stallion.

This new design is not your everyday Ford Mustang – but rather an awe inspiring original.  You can find custom body work, ultra high performance z-rated tires, and Ford Racing parts.  Some options available in the third quarter this year are the Ford Racing Supercharger system (which boosts the available horse power to 425 HP), and sequential tail lights.  Available in both the coupe and convertible models, these babies have a base price of $40,000 US with only a limited run of a few thousand per year.  You can expect these cars to be snatched up rather quickly with dealers selling the cars above the recommended price.
