Knock, Knock Who’s There?

I can remember as a child using knock knock jokes all the time.  It was really easy to come up with those types of jokes, and even though sometimes my creations were not really that funny, my family always humored me and laughed at them anyways.  There seemed to be the traditional ones such as:

Knock, knock.
Who’s there?
Lettuce who?
Lettuce pray.

Who’s there?
Banana who? (Repeat the above three or four times)
Knock knock
Who’s there
Orange who?
Orange you glad I didn’t say banana?

Now that I am older and have some children, it is back to telling knock knock jokes.  In my research to teach my four year old some jokes, I realized how bad knock, knock jokes used to be.  I also understand the real reason why my parents used to laugh at my jokes: there is nothing funnier than watching your child trying to tell you a funny joke – that alone is priceless.
